Vastu Shanti, Griha Shanti
Vastu Shastra'Vastu' in Sanskrit means nature,a surrounding, environment or any existing thing,such as house, shelter building etc. 'Shastra' in Sanskrit means Science.Vastu shastra is an ancient concept and skill of deciding the locations,orientations etc. of new buildings.It maintains a proper balance between man and the nature,which brings good fortune,good health, wealth and prosperity.
It is the first entry into a new house,on an auspicious day and time(called Muhurat),determined by the astrologer.Griha Pravesh on the day of Amavas (black moon) and Tuesday, is not advisable. The house should not be locked for a few days after the Griha Pravesh, since it is considered as inauspicious. Our ancient scriptures mention three types of griha pravesh,namely-Apoorva,Sapoorva and Dwandwah.
Apoorva Griha Pravesh
This is the first entry in to a newly constructed house on a new plot, when the sun is in the uttarayan position;
Sapoorva Griha PraveshThis the entry into an already existing house,on migration elsewhere.
Dwandwah Griha Pravesh
This is the entry into a house,reconstructed after a damage due to various reasons like,fire, flood etc.when Guru (Jupiter) or Shukra (Venus) is setting.
