10 Home Remedies for Stye

A Stye (Hordeolum), can be internal or external. It is a very common eye infection which may affect at any age. Stye is a cause of Staphylococcus bacteria which inflames the sebaceous glands at the bottom of the eyes. It is an eye inflammation occuring on the edge of the eyelid, on the lower eyelid or inside the eyelid.

It is a painful lump filled with pus. Stye somewhat looks like a pimple. It is very painful and causes irritation and uneasiness. During this infection, the infected eye should not be rubbed, since it may easily get spread to the other eye.

Styes problem occur due to the toxic condition of the system because of wrong diet habits such as - boiled potatoes, white bread, pies, pastries, refined cereals, puddings and other confectionery items. Stye should never be neglected and treated immediately.

A stye gets cured only after it breaks and the pus comes out. As the pus comes out, it should be gently pressed wiped with a cotton with some dettol liquid in it. Clean the area till the residue comes out. Some blood may come out which will stop as it is wiped off. 10 Home Remedies for Stye

1 * Water *

The hot water compress softens the stye and cures it fast.
Use: Take a warm water jar and dip a clean towel in it. Compress it on the stye frequently during the day. Continue this for at least 10 minutes every time.

2 * Aloe Vera *

Styes can be effectively cured by the juice of aloe vera plant.
Use: Make a juice of aloe vera plant and mix it with water in equal proportion. Apply this juice gently on the stye at least 3 - 4 times a day to get very good relief.

3 * Green Tea *

Green tea contain tannic acid, which is a medicine to cure styes.
Use: Take a warm green tea bag and place on the stye as frequently during the day. Continue this for at least 8 - 10 minutes every time, since the warm compress softens the stye and cures the stye.

4 * Calendula *

Calendula lotion is one of the most effective home remedies to cure styes naturally.
Use: Prepare a mix of 1 tbsp of calendula flower powder and 1 cup of water, then boil it for 30 mins. The lotion formed out of it should be applied on the infected eye.

5 * Neem *

Use: For a stye on the upper eyelid, apply the paste of turmeric and neem on it.

6 * Date *

Use: Prepare a paste of date seed with water, by rubbing on black stone with water. Apply this paste on the infected eye 3 times a day to get a fast relief.

7 * Clove *

Use: Prepare a paste of about 6 - 8 cloves with water, by using a black stone. Apply this paste on the infected eye 3 times a day to get a fast relief.

8 * Fruits *

Use: The diet should include - fruits like - papaya, pineapple, peach, pear, orange etc.

9 * Cinnamon *

Use: Mix cinnamon, bay leaves, lemon and cook with ghee. Apply it gently on the affected area. The paste disinfects the skin and gives relief.

10 * Turmeric *

Use: Mix turmeric powder with water and put eye drops of this liquid 3 times every day.
