Loose Motions, also known as diarrhea, is frequent passage of loose stools or watery unformed stools.It drains away all the energysince water and minerals from body are lost.It actually flushes out the entire toxin from body.
For adults it is not very serious condition, However for small kids it can be a seriou health issue due to loss of important nutrients.One has to consume good quantity of water during Loose motion, else it can end up in dehydration.
Loose motion occurs due to - indigestion, food allergies, stress, food poisoning, over eating, less nutrition, too much intake of alcohol, etc.Loose Motion can become life threatening if not taken care of.
Home made Remedies for Children for Diarrhea & Dysentery
1 - Stewed apple with cinnamon & honey
After chewing, the pectin in apple binds the stools and absorbs extra water content water from the gut.Hence it is good for controlling diarrhoea.
2 - Plenty of seasoned curd
Seasoned curd is effective for infective bacteria in the gut. It also relieves from stomachache and cramps due to diarrhoea.
3 - Coconut water
Electrolyte liquids are good for body hydration.
4 - Lemon sherbet
Lemon sherbet which is good for hydration, restores the fluid loss.
5 - Pomegranate juice
Pomegranate juice works as an anti inflammatory agents to soothe the stomach wall.
6 - Baked sweet potato with ghee
Cooked starch in potatoes helps form solid stools and cures the infective diarrhoea.
7 - Liberal use of mint, cumin & lemon
Mint, cumin & lemon mix break down sticky mucous and improves digestion.
8 - Curd
Curd soothes the gut and provides probiotics which help in reducing the mucous.
9 - Moong dal Sprouts
It provides adequate nutrition and lessens the frequency of loose stools. It is an excellent way to restore the lost fluids and prevent further diarrhea.
10 - General Care
Avoid wheat, processed foods, spices.
These foods may aggravate mucous production in the gut.
Sips of water or juice at regular intervals.
Home made Remedies for Adults for Diarrhea & Dysentery
1 - Mustard seeds
Take 1/4 teaspoon of mustard seeds and 1 tablespoon water, mix it well. Keep for about 1 hour and then consume the mixture 2 or 3 times daily.
2 - Lemon
Prepare a juice of 1 lemon and add some salt and sugar for taste. Drink this juice after every hour.
3 - Pomegranate
Two pomegranates should be eaten every day or it's juice should be taken 1 glass 3 times a day.
Also mixing pomegranate leaves in water and drinking it after boiling gives relief.
4 - Fenugreek seeds or methi
Crush 2 teaspoons of dried fenugreek ie Methi seeds into fine powder and mix it in 1 glass of water.Consume it every morning on empty stomach.
5 - Buttermilk
Add buttermilk and some quantity of salt or jeera powder or black pepper powder.Take this for 2 or 3 times a day for relief from Loose motion.
6 - Mint leaves or pudina
Make a juice of fresh mint leaves to get 1 teaspoon of it. Add to it 1 teaspoon each of honey and lime juice. Mix this well and have it 2 or 3 times every day.
7 - Bottle Gourd Juice
It prevents from dehydration during Loose motions.
Peel 1 fresh bottle gourd and blend it well to extract its juice. Have this juice twice a day.
8 - Ginger
It has high anti bacterial and anti fungal properties.
Take 1/2 teaspoon dried ginger powder or you can also take a small piece of fresh ginger. Pound it and add it to buttermilk. Consume this buttermilk 3-4 times every day.
9 - Papaya
Grate 1 raw papaya and mix it into 3 cups of water and boil it for about 10 minutes and strain the water. Drink it warm 2 -3 times a day.
10 - Herbal tea
Make herbal tea and drink it 3 times a day. Take 1 teaspoon each of chamomile flower and fresh peppermint leaves in 1 glass water. Boil water and allow steeping for 15 minutes. Strain the water and drink it.
11 - Lemon
Make juice of lemon.Take 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and add 1/2 teaspoon of ginger paste and a little black pepper. Stir it well and eat this 2 times a day.
12 - Cumin seeds
Take 2 teaspoons each of cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds. Roast them and grind it to fine powder. Take 4 teaspoon of this powder and mix it with 1 cup of yogurt. Mix it well and eat it 3 times a day.
13 - Onion
Take 1 onion and slice it length wise into thin pieces. Fry this onion on a pan with 2-3 teaspoon ghee till it turns golden brown in colour. Eat plain rice with this fried onion. This reduces the pain in stomach and controlls loose motions.
14 - Banana
Take few ripped bananas mash it and add little salt to it. Have it 2-3 times a day.
15 - Dates
Take 1 teaspoon paste of date ie khajoor and add honey to it. Have this 3 times a day.
16 - Amla seeds
Take 5-10 grams amla seed powder and mix it with buttermilk. Take this 2-3 times a day.
17 - Tea
Strong black tea without sugar is very effective in stopping Loose motion.
When you have Loose motion it is best to fast. Try not to eat rather drink as much fluids as possible.Food like curd rice, bananas, apples, pomegranate, etc. can be taken in small quantity. Do not over eat, instead eat less but more frequently. Try to rest your body as much as possible.Drink more water.Consume tender coconut water. Avoid intake of milk products like cheese, milk, milk powder, coffee prepared with milk, etc.
