21 Home Remedies on Dengue Fever

Dengue fever which is termed as "Dandak Jwar" in ayurveda, is a mosquito-borne very painful and debilitating disease caused by viruses. Dengue fever is caused by any one of four dengue viruses spread by mosquitoes that thrive in and near human lodgings.

The mosquito gets infected as it bites a person with dengue virus in the blood. Dengue fever is then transmitted by the bite of such mosquito(Aedes). However it is not a contageous disease which is transmitted from person to person.

Dengue symptoms are sometimes so mild that it is presumed as flu or another viral infection. In case of youngsters and people who never had the infection before experience milder than older children and adults.

There may come up serious problems leading to dengue shock syndrome (DSS) such as - dengue hemorrhagic fever, damage to lymph and blood vessels, enlargement of the liver, bleeding from the nose and gums and failure of the circulatory system, which may lead to massive bleeding and death.

The dengue hemorrhagic fever is developed in people with weak immune systems and those with repeated dengue infection.These patients are believed to be at greater risk of dengue fever. When a family member gets dengue fever, the mosquitoe that bites the infected family member may spread the infection among other family members.

Although most cases of dengue fever are not fatal, the fever can progress rapidly to more serious stages if the initial symptoms are not treated and preventative measures are not taken. The following home remedies are supplemental treatments and are not formal cures.

21 Home Remedies for Dengue fever

1 * Water *

Consume ample water as you can, since it replaces the fluid loss, that helps to controll the body temperature.

2 * Papaya *

Papaya which contain Papain, is very effective remedy to cure dengue. Take 2 raw papaya leaves and make a juice of it and get it strained. juice. Consume 2 tbsp of papaya juice every day. As far as possible the juice should be consumed raw, without any additions like water etc.

3 * Coriander *

The leaves of the coriander is an effective remedy to reduce the fever.

4 * Neem leaves, oil *

Neem leaves and Neem Oil both are an effectivet purifying agent. Apply it on a damp warm cloth in dosages of between 15 to 60 grammes 2-3 times every day. The dosage should be restricted separatelt for men and women.

5 * Gooseberry *

Gooseberry ie Amla is rich in vitamin C, which helps in better absorption of iron.

6 * Hogweed *

Hogweed brings down the body temperatures and produces plenty of perspiration which flushes out the toxins and controlls the fever.

7 * Hermal *

Crushed seeds of hermal and made in to a powder can be taken as an infusion or as a decoction, which cures the intermittent and recurrent fever that occurs dengue.

8 * Chyavanprash *

Chyavanprash should be taken every day, being an immunobooster, blood purifier and increases the blood count.

9 * Basil *

Boiled Basil leaves ie Tulsi, should be given in a warm water like tea. It strengthens the internal system against fever. About 10 basil leaves should be chewed twice a day or warm it in 200 ml of water and consume it 3 times every day.

10 * Hinguleshwar *

Prepare a mixture of 350 mg of Shunthi Churna with 120 mg of Hinguleshwar and consume it minimum 4 times a day with hot water.

11 * Pepper *

Prepare a grinded mixture of 1 black pepper and 10 basil ie tulsi leaf pieces. Make small size pills and take it with water.

12 * Cassia *

The root of the cassia tree is used as a tonic for controlling the dengue fever.

13 * Chirayata *

Chirayata controlls the fever and is used as a remedy to stop the convulsions during the fevers of dengue.

14 * Dhatura *

Dhatura leaves are very effective for the dengue fevers. The dosage must be in controll and not exceeding 2 decigrams, or it will lead to negative symptoms.

15 * Mallow *

An infusion of the Indian mallow is used as an effective treatment to controll the dengue fevers.

16 * Fenugreek *

This is a very common home remedy for dengue fever symptoms around the world. Fenugreek leaves are known to reduce fever and act as a slight sedative to ease pain and gives peaceful sleep.

17 * Devil's tree *

The herb Devil's tree, which is analogous in function to cinchona and quinine and controlls the recurrent fevers which occur in dengue.

18 * Orange *

The orange juice is good for digestion and also increases the urinary output. It promotes the antibodies which helps for faster healing and recovery.

19 * Pomegranate *

Pomegranate juice is adviced which increase the blood count and controlls the fever.

20 * Barley grass *

Barley grass has the unique ability to increase the blood platelet count by stimulating the production of more blood cells. Consume barley tea or eat barley grass directly to get rapid increase in platelet count.
